Fat Nurse

I went to the beach on Wednesday with some of my old high school/college friends, Alice and Siobhan.
The weather was actually fab so I got to wear my sunglasses;

Which I got from Asos.

I also had the first chance to wear and review this amazing dress from Dangerousfx.
They’re a small UK-based company who focus on pin-up, semi-gothic and generally unique clothing, most of which they offer in plus sizes. In fact, they have a HUGE range of sizes from 8 through to 36 :D AWESOME. This means that the smaller ones among us can get the same clothing as us big girls, this is something I love about the company because I hate fat/thin fashion segregation! Anyway, when they released this dress I HAD to own it.

I love, love, LOVE this dress. It’s strapless and the belt is silky and can be made in to a cute bow (Even though I’m bad at bows in general,) and it’s really flowy, the circle skirt is huuuuge which means lots of fabric, this makes it look amazing when it’s a tad breezy as it has loads of volume to it.

Despite having such a big skirt it’s actually quite light as a dress. The material is good quality and the red trim around the bottom is made from the same silky fabric that the belt is.

As you can see, the back is fairly low cut but not low enough to show your bra strap (well, mine anyway,) and the back is elasticated so it doesn’t slip down to reveal any boobage ;) It’s actually a very comfortable dress. I wasn’t too sure about how the quality was going to be because I had never heard of Dangerousfx before but I was pleasantly surprised. I can see this dress lasting a long time. It is most definitely the perfect dress to go to the beach in!

We had a really good time, we went to play mini-golf and then had fish and chips :D We then sat on the beach and ate donuts! It was good fun and nice to chill out with them.

Alice is in Brighton for uni and she usually lives at the top of my road so it’s strange having her so far away, she’s pretty much the most intelligent person I know. Siobhan is entering the caring profession which I suggested to her, she’ll be working with children who suffer from Learning Disabilities and I know she’ll do well.

But, with Alice away at uni and Siobhan busy with her new job (good luck by the way, Shuvvy, if you see this. I know you and Alice stalk me,) and me being a student nurse having unpredictable time slots it’s quite hard for the stars to align so that we can meet up and go out. But that’s okay, we’re good enough friends that we don’t have to see each other to know we’re there for each other.

Anyway, more about this fabulous dress!

Both Alice and Siobhan loved the dress and wanted to know where to buy it.

It’s quite hard finding places in the UK that stock plus size clothing that isn’t afraid to be different. I like my clothes to look like clothes that “normal” sized people wear. I don’t want to be differentiated because I’m fat, and being fat shouldn’t mean that I have to be restricted to boring or solely black, baggy clothing. Dangerousfx has an eclectic range of dresses, they even offer petticoats and if I were wearing this dress to somewhere like a prom I would most definitely get one.

While playing mini-golf in this dress Alice mentioned croquet, which now, looking at this picture, makes me feel like the big fat queen from Alice in Wonderland playing croquet with a flamingo.
I think it’s quite a cute look, even if I don’t have the playing-card pattern on my dress, the colour scheme is right! Also, that’s my new coat again, which I think fits this dress well as it also has a big circle-skirt-style bottom.

There is just SO MUCH I want to buy from this site it’s unreal, however I can’t start spending money now seeing as I’m going to Bulgaria soon to see my Dad and little brothers who moved away a few months ago.

That’ll be nice, I’ll try and get lots of pictures, but I don’t have any money until I’ve gone over there so no more impulse buys for another week! Aah!

Then, when I come back, I’ll officially be a second year student Mental Health Nurse! SCARY.

I would genuinely recommend Dangerousfx as a company, the dress got sent out straight away and the ladies over there are very friendly. They have a Facebook page where they usually post their newest bits which is here. I am going to be watching these girls for a while, especially with A/W10 just around the corner I am most definitely looking forward to what else they have to bring to us.

Also, bit of bad news; I’ve ripped my Asos Mesh Panel Leggings, which were my favourite leggings, because I managed to catch my leg on our front gate and was left with a gash up my calf and a ruined pair of leggings :( This makes me sad. If anyone has them in a size 22 and wants to donate them to the “Devon is sad” fund please let me know.
