This will be short and not-so-sweet.
Today I found out that one of my pictures is on a fat-hating group on Facebook. Some idiot defied my copyright of all rights reserved both on my blog and on flickr, which means I am going to go through a cease and desist order if Facebook will not remove it via their own copyright infringement act.
Natalie of Definatalie had this issue recently aswell, so I can empathise with her now – I would never wish this on anyone. I feel almost speechless, if anyone wants to report the group and their use of pictures please check it out here.
Screw you, I’m fat and happy, I’ll wear whatever the hell I want and you do not – DO NOT – have a right to publicly judge me while using my copyrighted content in the public domain. Do not mess with me or anyone else in the fat blogging community. Karma is a bitch.
Edit: Sadly Katrin and several other bloggers have seen their pictures in this group thanks to me pointing the group out, here is Katrin’s say on things over at her blog, Reizende Rundungen.

I don’t if this helped but I reported the group and categorised them as racist/ hate speech. I wasn’t sure which to choose to be honest: targets me or my friends; spam; etc but I think everyone should report such groups.
Totally out of order, sad waste of life and time. Did try to find the picture to report but couldnt see it? Has it been removed? How did you find out that your picture had been used?
Mine is on the third page of “fan pictures,” at the bottom. Ripped leggings. And, I just happened across the group sadly.

There’s a few other people I know on there as well but I’m pretty sure facebook do JACK about anyone reporting these photos unless it’s the original owner reporting a copyright violation.

Damn right, I wear leggings under dresses and skirts all of the time, I’m sure there’d be a bigger uproar if I didn’t and just went bare-legged (which I do, and which should NOT be hated either,) but I guess there’s no pleasing some people. God, stupid no-hopers. I’ll report them, I think I’ve reported them before, so maybe if we keep reporting them they will be shut down? I definitely think they should be reported as hate speech because it is, simple as.
Also, it is definitely an infringement of copyright, especially since you have your copyright notice. If it carries on, I’m sure you could have a lawsuit, or threaten Facebook with such.
I’m definitely casting a watchful eye over the usage of my photographs right now, including that one. These people need to get a bloody life.

It has 60k fans. 60k people thought that was funny? It’s written in broken English and it’s clearly overrun with idiots, but I find it positively scary. It’s hate speech all right. Argh! This is so annoying, frustrating & hurtful! I understand that everyone has there own oppinions, but to take people’s photos, copyright photos, without there permission, to use in a judgemental way is just a very low act. I reported the group. Hopefully womething can be down about it. I guess it’s ust something we open ourselves up to with posting public blogs. *hugs*
I knew it’d happen eventually, yes. That’s what happens when you put yourself in the public domain as you said. However that is not a reason why we, as fat people, should be bullied or abused. My copyright notice is on both my Flickr and blog – I’ll be certainly most interested in where this goes.

Yes even if you just ignore the hate and the reason why they put the pictures up, it is not okay to put them up at all, even if it would be for some positive reason.

I just wanted to say to both of you that a.) I think you’re both amazing and gorgeous (not that it matters what others think) and b.) I hate that this happened. I’ve already reported them for spam and will encourage others to do so.

How can people join/add content to/run a site like that and have any respect for themselves as human beings? Seriously, especially some of the nastier commenters, who on the surface look like perfectly nice people. Just goes to show don’t judge a book by it’s cover. I feel sorry for the people who are in intimate relationships with people so shallow, or even worse the next generation who are the children of these people. Imagine if some of their kids are fat? There’s a walking eating disorder and miserable life waiting to happen.

I’m tired of simply infiltrating their sites. I created one for us called “Facebook, Please Stop Permitting Fat Hatred.”
We need to start pressuring Facebook to remove this crap. When you create a group, there’s a note that reads:
“Note: groups that attack a specific person or group of people (e.g. racist, sexist, or other hate groups) will not be tolerated. Creating such a group will result in the immediate termination of your Facebook account.”
So, fatties, as always, are fair game.

I think this group is degrading all women, not just fat ones + “fat” is a relative notion, where do you draw the limit? they probably mean that all women who do not have the body shape of a model are fat.
+ they have such low self-esteem that they need to degrade others in order to feel better, I think we should pity them, after all they do not have the luck to love, accept and pamper themselves like we do !

I read about this the other day on someone else’s blog and reported it then. It’s important that we keep on top of this “hate” crap.
It is important that we rise above this kind of thing, reporting is all we can do. Genuinely threatening with legal action from myself made them take my image down but Facebook doesn’t seem to give a shi- about how hateful that group is.
